NLV man gets 42 months in pot case

A 51-year-old North Las Vegas man was sentenced to 42 months in prison Monday for his part in a marijuana manufacturing enterprise that resulted in federal authorities seizing more than 3,000 plants.

Garry Lynn King was the final defendant in the case that stretches back to 1997, when he rented a Las Vegas home and set up a hydroponic marijuana operation.

King pleaded guilty to manufacturing a controlled substance and money laundering and forfeited $250,000, which he admitted were proceeds from the drug operation.

Five other defendants previously pleaded guilty to related charges and were all sentenced to prison time.

The prosecutions were the result of an investigation by the Drug Enforcement Administration, the Internal Revenue Service and the U.S. Attorney's office.
