Children pitch in to help those in need
Monday, Dec. 8, 2003 | 9:19 a.m.
Children are helping the Henderson Allied Community Advocates collect donations for people in need over the holidays.
Alexia Cumbie, a forth grader at Sue Morrow Elementary School and the granddaughter of Family Resource Program manager, JoAnn Holt, is organizing a blanket drive to keep as many people as possible warm for the holiday season.
If you have new or gently used blankets to contribute, drop them off at the HACA Family Resource Center, 145 Panama St., Henderson.
Girl Scout Junior Troop 342 is working on making about a dozen blankets to be distributed this winter. The National Charity League, a mother and daughter philanthropic group also works with HACA and recently completed a large food drive. Eagle Scout Jordan Hafen has also done a food drive as his scouting project.
If you are someone you know needs assistance, or are interested in making donations of food, clothing, or funds, stop by the HACA office from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday or call JoAnn Holt at 486-6770, Ext. 243.
