Sun Auction items still up for bid
Friday, Dec. 5, 2003 | 8:34 a.m.
Tired of frankincense, gold and myrrh? Then why not be a real wise man (or woman) and bid on an item in this year's Sun Holiday Auction?
There's still time to deck your halls with some of the promotional items the Sun receives during the course of the year and auctions for our favorite charity, the Sun Youth Summer Camp fund.
As they say, there's something for everybody on your shopping list. And having seen the entire 275-item list and studied it twice, that's just not a bunch of rhetoric.
Remember that old "Clue" board game you played as a kid? We've got one, Colonel Mustard, and it's item No. 221.
Or if that special person on your list has unruly hair, what about a Carrot Top T-shirt (No. 229)?
As far as I'm concerned, there's at least 101 uses for an Elephant Trunk Mask (No. 218). For instance, you can use it to entertain the grandkids after sampling a 750 ml bottle of Effen vodka (No. 189). Or just wear it as an accessory to the 32-inch-waist Jockey shorts (No. 204).
In addition to BVDs, we've also got DVDs. And CDs. And lots of books about NASCAR. There are Sega and X-box video games. And the Hit-A-Way baseball instruction system for the Cubs or Red Sox fan on your list. Who, come to think of it, could probably find another use for the Elephant Trunk Mask during the month of October.
But don't take my word for it, check out the goody list for yourself. To make a bid, visit the Sun website (www.lasvegassun.com) and click on the Sun holiday charity auction link. Send a separate e-mail for each item you want to bid on. Please list the item by number and include a short description.
In the event you still have last Friday's Sun lying around in your recycling bin, you also can bid by regular mail. Make your bid by using the numbers listed on a sheet of paper or a 3x5 index card. You can bid on as many items as you like, but each bid must be made on a separate piece of paper or index card. Mail bids to: Las Vegas Sun Holiday Auction, 2275 Corporate Circle Drive, Suite 300, Henderson, NV 89074.
The deadline for bidding on merchandise is Wednesday, Dec. 17. Merchandise can be picked up during business hours (9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) at the Sun building beginning Thursday, Dec. 18. Winning bidders will be notified by telephone (mail bids) or by e-mail. All sales are final.
