Taking part in the ProRodeo Hall of Fame's 25th anniversary and making friends all over the country are two of many highlights of Lori Bortner's reign as 2003 Miss Rodeo America.

This week, another cowgirl will get the once-in-a-lifetime chance to live her dream. Running through Saturday, Dec. 6, 24 state queens from the Great Lakes to the West Coast will compete for the honor of being named 2004 Miss Rodeo America.

During the week long competition, contestants are judged equally in three categories: appearance, personality and horsemanship. The scores from a contestant's speech presentation, photogenic judging, interviews, extemporaneous questions, introductions, and fashion show presentation are also included.

Known for outrageous exaggeration, Las Vegas combines the best of worldwide entertainment, style and attractions, catering to any taste. Visitors may think it's a stretch to find a hint of tradition or originality among the imposters, but every December, Las Vegas' original country Western gift show proves them wrong.

The Cowboy Christmas Gift Show has been making headlines since 1986, only a year after the National Finals Rodeo made its Las Vegas debut.
