Two cop supervisors retiring

Two longtime Metro Police supervisors are retiring at the end of the year, Sheriff Bill Young said Tuesday.

Deputy Chief Richard McKee joined the department in 1973. He is currently in charge of the investigative bureau, which includes robbery, homicide, crimes against youth and family, financial property crimes and criminalistics.

In his 30-year career, he has also worked in the patrol, SWAT, intelligence and communications departments.

Capt. Frank Sutton will also leave the department at the end of December, ending a 24-year career with Metro. He currently heads the vice/narcotics unit. Throughout his career, he has worked in the organized crime, patrol, crimes against property departments. He also worked as commanding officer of Metro's Southeast Area Command.

Young also announced the promotion of Capt. Greg McCurdy to the rank of deputy chief over the investigative services department. He joined the department in 1983 and has worked in the recruiting, gang intelligence, patrol, public information, employment diversity, personnel and criminalistics departments.

His most recent assignment has been commander of the financial property crimes bureau.

Eight officers have also been transferred, Young said.
