Teachers’ contract OK’d

The Clark County School Board approved new contracts for the district's teachers and administrators Thursday.

The teachers' union contract includes 2 percent pay hikes over each of the next two years, as funded by the Legislature during the last session. The district will also contribute $106,000 a year to help cover tuition costs for teachers studying urban education, union officials said.

The Legislature also approved 2 percent pay hikes for the state's administrators. But the Clark County Association of School Administrators voted Wednesday not to distribute the pay increase across the board and instead to reclassify jobs so that administrators working in at-risk schools or year-round campuses will get extra money.
