The attorney for the man charged with killing a Boulder City casino employee and disposing of her dismembered body said his client has been deemed incompetent by two psychiatrists.
Perry Monroe, 29, appeared this morning before Justice of the Peace Deborah Lippis, who said a District Court judge will make the decision of whether Monroe must go to Lakes Crossing, the state hospital for the mentally ill, to receive further evaluation.
Monroe's attorney, Chief Deputy Public Defender Curtis Brown, said he received notice that the state will possibly seek a grand jury indictment, which would move the case directly to District Court.
Monroe is charged in the June 22 killing of Ladonna Milam, 49, an employee at the Hacienda hotel near Lake Mead. Her dismembered body was discovered in a fishing pond in Boulder City the next day.
Monroe was arrested in two days later in Fresno, Calif., and extradited to Nevada.
He faces one count of murder and one count of first-degree kidnapping.
