More blood needed for holiday

United Blood Services is looking for blood donors in case of an emergency Labor Day weekend.

It is increasing its hours this week at its main center to bring in more donors and its staff is working overtime.

Blood donors can call 233-9620 for an appointment at any of the five centers in the Las Vegas Valley. Call 228-8400, ext. 300 for a list of mobile blood drives scheduled at businesses, churches and schools.

Donors must be at least 17 years old, 110 pounds and healthy. It takes 90 minutes on average to donate blood. All donors must present identification.
