Columnist Muriel Stevens: Sexy boxers get brief exposure

One of the sexiest lines of men's boxer shorts these jaded eyes have ever seen will be launched tonight at a private party at ghostbar at the Palms.

Hosted by Big Headed Boxers, a new company devoted to boxer shorts for men, the guest list is limited to buyers and retailers attending the MAGIC convention, a trade show devoted to clothing and accessories for men, women and children.

Keith Davis, chairman and founder of Big Headed Boxers, is a young entrepreneur with a penchant for double entendres, but his boxers are super. The quality and design of these hip boxer shorts can be appreciated by everyone, even those who may be put off by the risque ads.

Big Headed Boxers will not appear in stores until November. Prediction: Big Headed Boxers will have big-time appeal for guys young and "mature."

Playboy back-to-school footwear: It was 50 years ago when a magazine called Playboy was launched, complete with bunny outfit-clad beauties and rabbit-head logo -- one of the most recognized brands in the world.

Today the famed rabbit head can be found on a sports footwear line designed for teens and young adults who consider the shoes cool, sexy and, dare I say, comfortable. Some of the sneakers sport faux diamonds, others have glitter, and all have the rabbit-head monogram on the sole. The new Playboy footwear collection is available at Marshall Rousso stores (in most major hotels) and at Baker shoe stores.

Galleria at Sunset in Henderson adds new stores: The endearing Build-A-Bear Workshop where kids (and grown-ups) can create a personalized stuffed animal has opened a second Nevada store at Galleria's Center Court on the lower level.

Choose your animal and stuff it -- it's as simple as that. For added joy, animal creators have the option of placing an audio message inside the toy. A birth certificate is included. Build-A-Bear Workshop also hosts parties for any special occasion.

Galleria at Sunset's lower level in the Dillard's wing is now home to Kirkland's Home Decor. Featured are distinctive gifts, garden accessories, unusual home decor and holiday items. A storewide art sale ends Sunday.

Also in the expanded lower level at the Gaylan's wing is a new Buena Vista Coffee & Tea and All American Ice Cream & Yogurt. Offered are fat-free yogurt, smoothies, hot and cold beverages and a wide selection of ice cream flavors.

For more info about Galleria events and stores, call 434-2409.

Martha Stewart tag sale online: Save up to 70 percent at Martha Stewart's summer tag sale online, which ends Sunday. Included are gardening, cooking and baking items, furniture and stationery, crafts, bed and bath, barware and more. To see sale items and to order, go to marthastewart.com

More online sales: This is the time to take advantage of online catalog sales. Never before have I received so many sale catalogs. Choose wisely; postage and shipping charges can diminish the savings unless the discount is really a deep one. Or, better yet, shop the catalog at a local outlet. J. Jill, Chico's and other popular mail-order catalogs have stores in Las Vegas. Both of the above have stores at the Fashion Show.
