Trial set in buried-body case
The Las Vegas woman accused of killing a man and burying him in her back yard pleaded not guilty Monday in Clark County District Court.
Anna Mitchel, 36, entered her plea before District Court Judge Sally Loehrer on Monday. No bail has been set for Mitchel, and her trial is set to begin March 8.
Mitchel was arrested July 21 after police discovered an unidentified man's body buried in her back yard.
Man shot to death in apartment
A man was shot to death in an apartment complex in the 1900 block of North Walnut Road on Monday night.
A second person went to University Medical Center with a gunshot wound and was treated and released.
Witnesses said the man who died and two other people were hanging out around the complex rolling dice. Details are unclear as to what happened next, but multiple shots were fired. More than one gun was found at the crime scene. A third person has not been located or identified.
The victim had not been positively identified this morning, the Clark County coroner's office said.
Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at 385-5555 or the Homicide section at 229-3521. Some may be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
