Letter: Poorly marked ramp caused tragic death

Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003 | 1:45 a.m.

As you travel east from Rainbow, one must decide to either veer left to enter the 215 or veer right to Decatur. The speed limit is 45 mph and most people drive faster. The problem occurs at night due to these facts: The lines marking the veer to either the left or right are very faded. There are no lights in the vicinity, aggravating the danger of the faded lines. People are accelerating in this area to enter the 215.

I implore Clark County to please fix this problem. I and every person in my family have spoken to many people who have come close to having the same accident as this young man. Fortunately, we were not victims of this negligence. I drive by the accident site every day, see the memorial set up on the rocks by the boy's family and friends, and wonder how many more accidents or deaths must occur before the county will take a little time and a little manpower to re-paint those lines or add lights.
