Cancer patients get special class
"Let's Take U Out of Fatigue," will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays in the education room of the Oncology Unit at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, 3186 S. Maryland Parkway.
The class will help cancer patients understand the causes of fatigue and how to manager it.
Vicki Koceja, a certified oncology nurse, will teach the class, which is designed to reach out to patients and their support networks to teach them basic self-care techniques and coping skills related to fatigue management.
Topics include the causes of fatigue, the effect of blood counts, managing fatigue, nutrition and exercises to decrease fatigue.
