Alberto Alvidrez

Alberto Alvidrez, 65, of Las Vegas died July 16 in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 31, 1937.

Charles M. Baker

Charles M. Baker, 61, of Searchlight died Friday in a local medical center. He was born Nov. 23, 1941, in Illinois. A resident for 13 years, he owned and operated a welding company, he was a Korean War Air Force veteran, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Paralyzed Veterans of America, the Disabled American Veterans and the Moose.

He is survived by his wife, Lynda; three sons, David Baker of Washington and Niel Baker and Steven Russell, both of Las Vegas; one daughter, Misty Russell of Colorado; one brother, James J. Baker of Searchlight; two sisters, Marilyn Carson of Searchlight and Yvonne Schmidt of Twin Falls, Idaho; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 11 a.m. services Friday in Searchlight Community Church, 815 N. Highway 95, followed by burial in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Ray D. Ballew

Ray D. Ballew, 58, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local nursing home. He was born July 5, 1945, in Mexico, Mo. A resident for 40 years, he was a retired architect, and Vietnam War Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Judy; two sons, Ryan W. Ballew of Denver and Roy Ballew of Reno; one daughter, Robin Tejada of Reno; and one grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Spring Valley Baptist Church, 3135 S. Rainbow Blvd., followed by burial in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

John Barrett

John Barrett, 74, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local care center. He was born March 14, 1929, in Wyoming. A resident for 41 years, he was a musician and a member of the Elks, Moose, Eagles, Musicians Union and Local Carpenters Union.

He is survived by one son, John Barrett of Las Vegas; one daughter, Claudia Meeks of Langlois, Ore.; four brothers, Robert, James, Fred and Don Schlup; two sisters, Barbara Jean Moore and Else Wood; and three grandchildren.

John L. Bell

John L. Bell, 84, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born May 24, 1919, in Trinidad, Colo. A resident for 29 years, he was a retired construction worker, World War II Navy veteran, and a member of the Millwrights Union.

He is survived by one son, Baxter Bell of Apple Valley, Calif.; one sister, Dolly Lonetti of Las Vegas; and two grandchildren.

Helen Burton

Helen Burton, 85, of Henderson died July 15 in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 22, 1917.

She is survived by her friend, Raul Esparza of Las Vegas.

F.T. 'Joe' Carter

F.T. "Joe" Carter, 81, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 22, 1921, in Linden, Texas. A resident for 62 years, he was a retired secretary/treasurer of Teamsters Local 631 and a World War II Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Connie; two sons, Gordon Carter of San Diego and Michael Carter of Las Vegas; one daughter, Kathy Altman of Silt, Colo.; one brother, Felton Carter of Las Vegas; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in Memory Gardens.

Dorothy J. Conway

Dorothy J. Conway, 67, of Las Vegas died Thursday in a local hospital. She was born Sept. 28, 1935, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for seven years, she was a retired banking administrator.

She is survived by two daughters, Patty Sabbagh of Harbor City, Calif., and Regina Fowler of Brooklyn; one son, Gary Fiato of Las Vegas; and seven grandchildren.

Dale Norman Crain

Dale Norman Crain, 50, of Henderson died July 14. He was born July 8, 1953.

David W. Francis

David W. Francis, 67, of North Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born June 11, 1936, in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. A resident for 31 years, he was a porter.

He is survived by his wife, Wadie Davis; three stepdaughters, Martha Dease, Barbara Trimble and Nancy Davis, and one stepson, Charles Davis, all of Las Vegas; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at noon Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North.

Barbara A. Gallatin

Barbara A. Gallatin, 65, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. She was born March 17, 1938, in California. A resident for 13 years, she was a retired key punch operator.

She is survived by one son, Robert Allen Gallatin; one daughter, Michelle Gallatin; and two grandchildren.

Robert Calvin Kane

Robert Calvin Kane, 79, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born July 10, 1924, in Illinois. A resident for 30 years, he was an airline pilot and World War II and Korean War Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; one daughter, Karen Dedrick of Olympia, Wash.; one sister, June Coppotelli of Stratford, N.J.; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday in St. Anne Catholic Church, 1901 S. Maryland Parkway, followed by a private burial. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Sept. 10 in St. Viator Catholic Church, 2461 E. Flamingo Road.

Virginia June Knispel

Virginia June Knispel, 72, of Las Vegas died Aug. 11 in a local hospital. She was born June 12, 1931, in Nebraska. A resident for four years, she was a clerk.

She is survived by her husband, Emerson; one son, Blaine Knispel; two daughters, Vicki Rose and Nanette Meyer; one brother, Lloyd Nolde; and three grandchildren.

Daniel Michael McCarthy Sr.

Daniel Michael McCarthy Sr., 78, of Las Vegas died Aug. 9 in Las Vegas. He was born April 25, 1925, in Chicago. A resident for 14 years, he was a longshoreman, owned a trucking company and was a World War II Coast Guard veteran.

He is survived by one son, Daniel McCarthy Jr. of Hammond, Ind.

Graveside services were scheduled Tuesday at Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Nevada Funeral Service, 2983 Fremont St., handled arrangements.

Ruth Celeste Patasky

Ruth Celeste Patasky, 76, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born July 19, 1927, in Hollywood, Calif. A resident for 24 years, she was a retired travel agent.

She is survived by her husband, Norman A.; three sons, Joe Holden of Atlanta, Ted Holden of Knoxville, Tenn., and Adam Patasky of Las Vegas; 14 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was scheduled Tuesday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

John Joseph Romano Jr.

John Joseph Romano Jr., 1, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospice. He was born Jan. 15, 2002, in Las Vegas.

He is survived by his parents, John and Marylou Romano Sr., two sisters, Meghan and Danielle, and his grandparents, Lillian Romano and Martha and Robert McKenzie, all of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until a 6 p.m. vigil Thursday and from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave. Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Friday in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 1811 Pueblo Vista Drive, followed by burial in Palm Memorial Park, Northwest.

Renate Settle

Renate Settle, 72, of Las Vegas died Aug. 13 in Las Vegas. She was born April 3, 1931, in Karlsruhe, Germany. A resident for 10 years, she was a retired banker.

She is survived by her husband, Ralph; and one grandson, Andreas M.

Floyd Perry Springer

Floyd Perry Springer, 80, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 2, 1922, in Washington. A resident for seven years, he was a retired mechanic, World War II Army Air Corps veteran and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by one niece, Shirley.

Francisca 'Violeta' Vera

Francisca "Violeta" Vera, 76, of Las Vegas died Saturday, in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 29, 1927, in Havana, Cuba. A resident for 16 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one sister, Sonia Fernandez-Silva of Miami; one daughter, Susana Mesa Hamman of Las Vegas; two sons, Juan Carlos Mesa of Las Vegas and Edward Mesa of Miami; and nine grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. services Thursday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

Loomis Young

Loomis Young, 67, of Las Vegas died July 19 in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 21, 1935.

Morris Zanazanian, 61, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 15, 1941, in Syria. A resident for 20 years, he was a retired restaurant owner.

He is survived by his wife, Laila; two sisters, Arousiak Kalaydjian of Venice, Calif., and Sirvant Mesrobian of Los Angeles; and one brother, Alex Zanazanian of Las Vegas.
