Workshop planned for business owners
The Internal Revenue Service and the Nevada Microenterprise Initiative are offering a free workshop Thursday for those starting a new business or for people in business who would like information on federal, state, county and city tax laws.
The workshop will be from 1:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. at the Henderson District Public Library, 280 Water St. Registration is required.
Some workshop topics to be presented are tax responsibilities for small businesses, business licensing, business insurance, worker's compensation, employees vs. independent contractor, OSHA requirements and regulations, bookkeeping and business legal entities and more.

Fifth annual NLV back-to-school fair set
The fifth annual North Las Vegas Back-to-School Health and Educational fair will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at Community College of Southern Nevada, 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave.
The event will serve North Las Vegas' inner city families with additional support for the homeless youth and families
The fair will also feature a fashion showcase, professional entertainment, performance arts, educational and motivational activities, various mascots and local celebrities.

Henderson Parks and Recreation
will host a performance by Ecuadorian folk band Andes Manta at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Henderson Pavilion, 200 S. Green Valley Parkway. Tickets are $2, $3, $5, $7 and $10. For more information, call 384-8427.
Sierra Health Services
won the darts competition for the A Division in the annual Corporate Challenge. Sprint won the competition in the B Division, GES Exposition Services the C Division and Desert Research Institute the D Division. The latest results leaves Bellagio in the lead, based on points awarded for each of the competitions, from softball and volleyball to bocce and darts, in the A Division. The Yucca Mountain Project team leads the B Division, G.C. Wallace Inc. the C Division and PBS&J the D Division.
