Music
Free concert
All-female band Killian's Angels will perform a free concert at 8 p.m. Monday at the ampitheater at the Rainbow Library, 3150 N. Buffalo Drive. 507-6313.
Music festival
The works of Strauss, Schumann, Tchaikovsky and Beethoven will reverberate throughout the city during the Las Vegas Music Festival, which continues this week with the following performances. For information, call 895-2787:
Young artists' chamber music -- 8 p.m. today, Rando Recital Hall, on the UNLV campus. Free.
Festival percussion concert -- 8 p.m. Saturday, Rando Recital Hall, on the UNLV campus. Tickets are $8 and $5.
Las Vegas Musical Festival Orchestra -- 2 p.m. Sunday, Artemus Ham Concert Hall, on the UNLV campus. Tickets are $8 and $5.
Jazz
Local jazz guitarist/vocalist Calvin Brooks performs from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. every Thursday at Starbucks, 651 N. Rainbow Road. The performances are free. 340-9391 or 499-4110.
Concert series
Central Christian Church offers a free weekly series entitled, "Hot Summer Nights," at 6:30 p.m. every Wednesday throughout the summer at 1001 New Beginnings Drive. 735-4004.
Christian rock
Ascension, a contemporary Christian rock band, performs at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays at Green Valley Presbyterian Church, 1798 Wigwam Pkwy. The performances are free. 454-8484.
Amateur night
The Beach is now hosting a "Local Band Night" at 9 p.m. every Thursday at 365 Convention Center Drive. The event is free for bands and patrons. 731-1925.
Theater
'Bat Boy'
Las Vegas Little Theatre presents the musical "Bat Boy" at 8 p.m. today and Saturday, and at 2 p.m. Sunday at 3844 Schiff Lane. Tickets are $17 general admission, $15 for seniors and students and $14 for current LVLT subscribers. 362-7996.
Outdoor theater
The State Parks Cultural Arts Board presents "Smokey Joe's Cafe," the third play in its "Super Summer Theatre 2003" series, at 8 p.m. today, Saturday, Wednesday and Thursday at Spring Mountain Ranch State Park, 18 miles west on Charleston Boulevard in Red Rock Canyon. Tickets are $7. A special benefit performance for the local Red Cross will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday. Tickets for that performance are $11, but children 6 and under get in free. 594-7529 or 895-2787.
