Men shot in alleged gang-incident

Two men were shot and injured this morning in what police allege was a gang-related incident, Las Vegas Metro Police spokesman Benjamin Kim said.

Shots rang out about 3:45 a.m. at the Cheyenne Points apartments, 3240 Las Vegas Boulevard North, police said.

Victims told police they were approached by a group of black young men who shot about 20 rounds with handguns.

One man's mouth was injured and another man was shot in the buttocks and right leg. Both victims were taken to University Medical Center.

The names of the victims had not been released. Police did not know their conditions this morning.

No one was arrested as of this morning and the investigation was continuing.

Boy released after near-drowning

The 1-year-old boy who nearly drowned in a wading pool at a North Las Vegas home on Aug. 5 has been discharged from University Medical Center.

Leonardo Garcia, who was discovered face down in the pool by a 13-year-old babysitter, has returned to his home in the 2600 block of Vana Street, North Las Vegas Police said.

An investigation is continuing because the parents were away from the home at the time of the near drowning.

Man suspected in Reno robberies

A man arrested on robbery charges after an armed heist at a downtown Las Vegas casino on Thursday may be a suspect in three other casino cage robberies in Reno, Metro Police said.

Metro detectives interviewed Abraham Rosenburg, 59, after he was taken into custody by casino security guards, Lt. Ted Snodgrass said. He did not identify the casino.

During an interview, the suspect confessed to the Las Vegas robbery as well as three others in Reno, Snodgrass said.

Rosenburg was arrested on charges of robbery with a deadly weapon and outstanding federal warrants of bank robbery.

Reno detectives were traveling to Las Vegas to interview Rosenburg about the Northern Nevada robberies, Snodgrass said.

Body found off I-15

A military pilot on a flight from Nellis Air Force Base discovered the body of a man in a ditch near the Las Vegas Motor Speedway off Interstate 15 on Thursday, Metro Police said.

At this time the case is not being investigated as a homicide, police said.

The Clark County coroner's office will examine the body and determine the cause of death.

The body appeared to have been in the ditch for days or weeks.
