Leader: Dedicated Scout deserves camp

WEEKEND EDITION: August 16, 2003
A seventh grader raised his grades at his middle school last year from an average 1.9 to a 2.6 grade point average. In the same amount of time he has risen in Boy Scouts from a Tenderfoot to a Second Class and a patrol leader.
The boy "has developed strong leadership skills and his skills continue to grow," his Scouting leader says. Summer camp would help those skills grow, but his grandmother, who is raising him, cannot afford to send him.
The Scout leader asks for help to send the boy to camp.
Sometimes simple things, such as toasting marshmallows and singing around the campfire and spending time around camp counselors who are positive role models are the memories that a child will carry with him through the rest of him life.
By joining contributors to the Las Vegas Sun Camp Fund you are making a difference in a child's life.
