Constance Arpino

Constance Arpino, 71, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. Born July 14, 1932, in Boston, she was a retired personnel supervisor at an insurance company.

She is survived by two sons, Michael Arpino of Webster, N.H., and John Arpino of Las Vegas; and two sisters, Elizabeth Smith of Peabody, Mass., and Patricia Storniolo of Las Vegas.

Delford Robert Ashley

Delford Robert Ashley, 77, of Henderson died Sunday in a local hospice. He was born Oct. 29, 1925, in Minnesota. A resident for 2 1/2 years, he was a chemical engineer, Army veteran, and a member of the Masons.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; one son, David Ashley; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Wayne G. Connolly

Wayne G. Connolly, 55, of Las Vegas died July 26 in Blanding, Utah. He was born March 31, 1948, in Portland, Maine. A resident for seven years, he was a regional manager for Anderson Drilling, an instructor for Nevada Motorcycle Safety, a first lieutenant in the Civil Air Patrol, a member of the EEA, AOPA, MAPA, and a former Big Brother. He also flew several Young Eagle Flights.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; three sons, Louis Connolly of Anchorage, Alaska, and Bryan Connolly and Bruce Connolly, both of Pacific, Mo.; two daughters, Michelle Crew of McKees Rocks, Pa., and Lori Garcia of Denver; his father, Ed Phelan of Pacific; and five grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 3 p.m. Saturday in Palm Mortuary, 7400 W. Cheyenne Ave.

Leon C. Crandell

Leon C. Crandell, 76, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born March 29, 1927, in Monrovia, Calif. A resident for 27 years, he was an engineer, Korean War Army veteran and a member of the Elks.

He is survived by his wife, Patty E.; three daughters, Patti Lee Armstrong, Debra Llamas and Trish Spindler, all of Las Vegas; six sons, Joseph Ross of Mesa, Ariz., John Ross of Phoenix and Steven Swaner, Richard Swaner, Ronald Ross and Robert Ross, all of Las Vegas; one sister, Rowena Carlson of La Habra, Calif.; 22 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Kathy Ann Descoteaux

Kathy Ann Descoteaux, 33, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. She was born June 10, 1970, in Houston. A resident for 3 1/2 years, she was a cashier.

She is survived by three children, all of Las Vegas; her mother, her father, Ron Descoteaux, and one sister, Cindy Nealson, all of Washington.

Birdette DeVore

Birdette DeVore, 93, of Pahrump died July 27 in Pahrump. She was born May 19, 1910, in Vicksburg, Miss. A resident for 48 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, Stan Goldsby of Pahrump.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 10 a.m. services Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North

Leonard B. Hankins

Leonard B. Hankins, 88, of Las Vegas died Aug. 5 in a local care center. He was born Aug. 9, 1914, in Alabama. A resident for nine years, he was an attorney, Marine Corps veteran, and a member of the Masons, Elks and Marine Corps Detachment.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at the Shrine Temple, 2222 W. Mesquite Ave.

Charles Howard

Charles Howard, 77, of Henderson died Tuesday in a local hospital. He was born March 20, 1926, in Greenup, Ky. A resident for 13 years, he was a retired mechanic, World War II and Korean War Army veteran, and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He is survived by his wife, Beatrice; two daughters, Margie Wilkerson of Henderson and Sharon Baczynski of Round Rock, Texas; three sons, Charles E. Howard Jr. and Ronald D. Howard, both of Las Vegas, and Donald W. Howard of Boston Spa, N.Y.; one brother, William Howard of Worthington, Ky; one sister, Colleen Crisp of Dayton, Ohio; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.

Phillip Kaplan

Phillip Kaplan, 81, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. Born Dec. 3, 1921, in New York, he was a letter carrier and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Barbara Steinberg of Scottsdale, Ariz., and Helene Beizer of Phoenix; one brother, Hy Kaplan of New York; one sister, Mildred Orkin of Florida; and two grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Nevada Funeral Service, 2983 Fremont St., is handling arrangements.

Sophie Katzman

Sophie Katzman, 85, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born March 11, 1918, in New York City. A resident for 60 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by one daughter, Elaine Miller, and one son, David Katzman, both of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled one hour prior to 2 p.m. services Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., followed by burial in Palm Memorial Park.

Will Henry McDowell

Will Henry McDowell, 82, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local care center. He was born Jan. 2, 1921, in Delhi, La. A resident for 52 years, he was a retired laborer and World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Carrie Newman; one son, Horace McDowell, one stepson, Kenneth D. Guice, and one stepdaughter, Amy T. Gimble, all of Las Vegas; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Victory Missionary Baptist Church, 500 W. Monroe Ave., followed by graveside services at Palm Mortuary.

Willard Merritt

Willard Merritt, 72, of Las Vegas, died Aug. 6 in Bullhead City, Ariz. He was born Oct. 7, 1930, in Louisiana. A resident for eight years, he was an automotive mechanic.

He is survived by his wife, Georgia; six sons, Willard Merritt of Louisiana, Kevin Merritt of Oklahoma and Anthony Merritt, Roderick Merritt, Keith Merritt and Aubrey Merritt, all of Las Vegas; four daughters, Deborah Phillips and Ranese Jones, both of Las Vegas, and Anzetta Adams and Zarenas Merritt, both of California; 27 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled from noon to 7 p.m. Friday in Garden Memorial Funeral Home, 3600 W. Vegas Drive. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Mountaintop Faith Ministries, 2845 Lindell Road, followed by burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Wanda C. Meyer

Wanda C. Meyer, 77, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born Feb. 12, 1926, in Purdy, Mo. A resident for 18 years, she was a homemaker and World War II Navy veteran.

She is survived by her husband, La Vern G.; one son, James Meyer of Las Vegas; two daughters, Candice Crawford of Martinez, Calif., and Sidney Hall of Hesperia, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Gail A. Nichols-Duval

Gail A. Nichols-Duval, 58, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Aug. 9, 1945, in Florida. A resident for 17 years, she was a customer service manager.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph; and two sons, Wayne Nichols and Michael Nichols, both of Las Vegas.

Visitation is scheduled from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be noon Monday in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Maida Anna O'Brien

Maida Anna O'Brien, 85, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born July 8, 1918, in New Jersey. A resident for 56 years, she was a homemaker, veteran, and a member of the PTA.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Joseph; one daughter, Maida O'Brien of Las Vegas; one brother, Charles Milk of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, followed by burial in Memory Gardens.

Margaret Ostrowski

Margaret Ostrowski, 68, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born July 21, 1935, in Chicago. A resident for 14 years, she was a retired nurse.

She is survived by her husband, Carl E.; one daughter, Sandy L. Reda of Las Vegas; and one son, Carl S. Ostrowski, and four sisters, Helen Micetich, Ann Jacobs, Cathy Watson and Eileen Ostrowski, all of Chicago.

Brooke Reece of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 11, 2003, in Henderson.

She is survived by her parents, Stephanie and Jeffrey Reese, and her grandparents, Steve and Cindy Pool and Michael and Debra Kogler, all of Las Vegas.

Hayden G. See

Hayden G. See, 80, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local care center. He was born June 8, 1923, in Paris, Ill. A resident for 23 years, he was a retired cook and a member of the Culinary Union.

He is survived by his wife, Norma; one daughter, Theresa See, and two sons, John See and Michael See, all of Las Vegas; one brother, Clive See of Nashville; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Cyrus 'Frank' Singleton

Cyrus "Frank" Singleton, 71, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 24, 1931, in Scranton, Pa. A resident for 33 years, he was a retired Air Force master sergeant and a Korean War and Vietnam War veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Edna; two sons, Darrly F. Singleton of Soquel, Calif., and Duane M. Singleton of Santa Barbara, Calif.; one daughter, Karen A. Singleton-Vega of New York City; four stepdaughters, Linda Stewart of Cedar City, Utah, and Diana Browing, Barbara Amduehl and Brenda Arnold, all of Las Vegas; and 12 grandchildren.

Visitation is scheduled from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd. Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday in Palm Chapel, Jones, followed by burial in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.

Lynett Wedaa, 68, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 3, 1935, in Hawaii. A resident for 18 years, she was a homemaker.

She is survived by her husband, Richard; five sisters, Beverly Hill of Richfield, Idaho, Marilyn Furlong of Colorado Springs, Colo., Wanda Okawa of Aiea, Hawaii, Rae Sadar of Irvine, Calif., and Roberta Cartier of Las Vegas.

A memorial service will be at noon Friday in Palm Mortuary, 1600 S. Jones Blvd.

Everett Lloyd Westbrook

Everett Lloyd Westbrook, 74, of Las Vegas died Sunday in North Las Vegas. He was born June 23, 1929, in Mesa, Ariz. A resident for 30 years, he was a police officer and retired Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Gertrude; one son, Robert Westbrook of Florida; and two grandchildren.
