Support class will deal with depression
A free support class entitled From Darkness to Light will be offered from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday by the Barbara Greenspun WomensCare Center of Excellence, 100 N. Green Valley Parkway, Suite No. 330.
Dr. Carlin Snyder, a clinical psychologist, will help participants learn to deal with dark moments of depression and life's periodic disappointments. Call 616-4900.
Back 2 School fair set Saturday
The Henderson Back 2 School celebration will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Robert Taylor Elementary School, 400 McNeil Drive, in Henderson.
Henderson agencies, including Henderson Allied Community Advocates, the Salvation Army, Giving Life Ministries, Central Christian Church, St. Rose Dominican Hospitals, Henderson Boys and Girls Club, St. Thomas More Catholic Community, and others, are working together to provide backpacks, school supplies, and back to school clothing to school-aged Henderson children in need of assistance.
There will be a resource fair to provide information on after-school programs, activities, tutoring programs, community agencies, immunizations, and other things that can help students to have a safe and successful school year.

Annual New Pioneers cook-off on Friday
Westside New Pioneers CDC, a nonprofit organization, will hold its third annual Barbecue and Baker's Cook-Off fund-raiser contest from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday in the community at M Street and Madison Avenue.
The contest is open to business vendors only. Entry forms may be picked up and dropped off at KCEP 88.1-FM, 330 W. Washington Ave., or Westside New Pioneers Community Development Corporation, 8111 I St.
Admission is free to the public. Food will be on sale.

Ombudsman seminar will help with meetings
The 2003 Ombudsman seminar will be held from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Winchester Community Center, 3130 McLeod Drive.
Learn how to run successful community association meetings, run an election/recall of board members, hold hearings for rules violations, record proper minutes, use Roberts Rules of Order and more.
The seminar is approved for three hours continuing education credit by the Nevada Real Estate Commission (Course No. 3005 PC).
