Green Valley ousted by Southern Calif.

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. -- Murphy's Law went into effect Sunday in California for the Green Valley Little League All-Stars.
Nevada's Little League state champions fell to Southern California, 14-2 in four innings, in the semifinals of the West Region tournament in San Bernardino, Calif. The loss ended Green Valley's run toward the Little League World Series.
Green Valley manager Rudy Reveles said that things started poorly for his group and never improved.
"Everything that could go bad, did go bad," Reveles said.
Facing a large crowd pulling for the hometown nine at Al Houghton Stadium, Green Valley quickly fell behind 11-0 to Southern California and never recovered. Green Valley had beaten this Southern California squad, 5-2, in pool play last week.
Reveles said he could not fault the effort from his kids, but a combination of pitching woes and cold bats doomed his team.
"The whole team, they just kept fighting," Reveles said. "They kept believing. They just couldn't get anything started."
After an 8-7 loss to Northern California Thursday night, Green Valley came back with a decisive 10-0 victory against Wyoming to qualify for the semifinal round, finishing at 2-2 in pool play.
Southern California will face Arizona, a 7-2 winner Sunday night in the other semifinal, in the region championship Tuesday night. The winner will advance to the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pa.
