Guinn names LV doctor to medical panel

CARSON CITY -- Gov. Kenny Guinn today named Dr. Javaid Anwar of Las Vegas to the state Board of Medical Examiners.
Anwar is the CEO of Quality Care Consultants, a medical quality and utilization review company and is a practicing internist in Las Vegas. He has also served as chairman of the department of internal medicine at Sunrise Hospital and is a physician advisor at the hospital.
Anwar succeeds Dr. Paul Stewart whose four-year term expired. Stewart has served the maximum eight years allowed on the nine-member board that regulates doctors.
