He went on a .357 tear (10-for-28) to raise his season batting average to .200, a stretch in which he knocked in runs in seven of his eight games, including multiple runs in three consecutive appearances.
He has turned in quality starts, going at least six innings without yielding more than three earned runs, in four of his past five trips to the hill, but he has lost three of them.
Closer Steve Colyer faltered in the first two, not even getting an out in the first game of Tuesday's twinbill. Then Bryan Corey took it on the chin in the 10th inning of the nightcap.
