A National Labor Relations Board hearing officer has dismissed a series of employer objections and has recommended certification of a union vote at U-Haul Co. of Nevada Inc., Las Vegas.
Hearing officer Sandra Lyons said in a 31-page ruling issued July 18 that she is recommending certification of a vote for representation of U-Haul employees by the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Local Lodge 845.
In her ruling, Lyons dismissed seven objections from U-Haul management regarding conduct by union organizers aired in a hearing June 10-11. The union was approved 47-25 in a May 7 vote. Lyons said there were 77 eligible voters and five challenged ballots.
