Letter: NSC president’s salary ‘ridiculous’
Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003 | 8:47 a.m.
I read your July 30, front-page story headlined, "Study: Salaries of (Nevada) university presidents not up to par." I was interested to learn that Kerry Romesburg, the new president of the Nevada State College at Henderson, makes $195,000 a year.
He was quoted as saying: "To be really honest, I wouldn't have come for less. I certainly have no apologies for my salary. It's certainly in line with most of the other institutions."
This is ridiculous. For a college that isn't really needed anyway, this pay is an outrage for typical working people in Henderson. I could do that job for less than $100,00 a year, benefits included!
What are these people thinking? It is a slap in the face to the hard-working people.
