VegasBeat — Timothy McDarrah: Neil focus of brothel complaint

No wonder Vince Neil was staying on the down-low at a private birthday party at the Palms the other night.

Turns out authorities in Lyon County had just withdrawn an arrest warrant for the former Motley Crue vocalist for allegedly assaulting a prostitute on the Fourth of July at the Moonlight BunnyRanch near Carson City.

"We did file misdemeanor assault charges against Mr. Neil and issue an arrest warrant. Mr. Neil subsequently posted a $1,000 bond and the warrant was withdrawn, and now the Justice Court will set a trial date," Lyon County District Attorney Leon Aberasturi told VegasBeat on Friday.

According to the July 17 complaint, Neil was alone in a room with Andrea Terry (aka TriXXXie Blue) when an argument started.

The complaint accuses Neil of using "force and violence upon the person of Andrea Terry," and "grabbing her around the throat and throwing her against a wall."

Messages left for Neil at his Las Vegas home were not returned. He has retained L.A. attorney Robert Shapiro, who worked on O.J. Simpson's defense team, to represent him in this case.

BunnyRanch proprietor Dennis Hof insisted that Neil, who is engaged, was not there for sex. Instead, said Hof, the rocker was attending an Independence Day party and signing autographs for fans.

"Vince is only guilty of being a celebrity," Hof said. "If he had laid a hand on her, I would have been all over him. I don't condone aggression toward women."

Robin Leach and producer Nick LaPenna are in the midst of filming four pilot episodes of "Penthouse Vegas," the new syndicated show that first airs the night of Aug. 22 in more than 100 markets nationwide.

Last week the show was shooting in one of the most stunning suites in Las Vegas -- the 16,300-square-foot penthouse atop the Las Vegas Hilton where Elvis Presley used to stay. It has its own swimming pool, among other amenities.

The show's opening sequence includes the "Jubilee!" women high-kicking it in front of the famous "Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas" sign on Las Vegas Boulevard.

KVBC Channel 3 anchor/reporter Scott Haws has left the station after six years. His last day was Friday. He starts at a Salt Lake City station in September.

George Maloof and several Playboy bunnies were guests on "The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn" Thursday night.

The Palms owner was promoting the "Playboy 50th Anniversary Weekend" at the hotel from Sept. 19 to Sept 21.

Fall parties and benefits are starting to fill the calendar.

First, the weekend of Sept. 12, UNLV has a weekend of events surrounding its induction of director George Sidney ("Viva Las Vegas," "Bye, Bye Birdie," "Showboat," "Pal Joey") into the school's Hall of Fame.

Sept. 20 is the gala celebrity opening of "Zumanity" at New York-New York (performances begin Aug. 14). The same evening Jimmy Buffett has rented out The Park, the outdoor events facility where the MGM theme park used to be, for a massive party after his concert that evening.

On Oct. 9 Joyce Mack is hosting two events to benefit Las Vegas Art Museum. The evening starts with a dinner at Phyllis McGuire's home and a viewing of McGuire's couture gowns. Then there is a reception in honor of artist -- and comedian -- Phyllis Diller. At the Foundation for an Independent Tomorrow gala Oct. 18 at Paris Las Vegas, Nancy Houssels and Wally Barr will be honored at a black-tie dinner. Sandy and Roger Peltyn are hosting.

Retired pro football stars Jim Kelly and Jim Everett were among a party of eight at Aureole (Mandalay Bay) Wednesday night.

Siegfried & Roy don't usually solicit anything from anybody, so when they do it must be about a cause quite important to them.

Last week the dynamic duo sent out letters to friends asking for their support of the 13th Annual K-9 Trials, a fund-raiser for the four-legged members of Metro.

The event takes place Sept. 28 at The Orleans Arena and features competitions between police pups from 40 different national jurisdictions.

The announcement for the event helpfully reminds people that "absolutely no pets" are allowed.
