Officer who killed shooting suspect ID’d

Metro Police released the name of the officer who shot and killed an attempted murder suspect Wednesday.

The officer has been identified as Thurman Buchanan, 37. He was hired by Metro in 1998 and works as a patrol officer, Officer Jose Montoya, spokesman for Metro, said.

The person shot was Anthony Eugene Minner, 22, of Las Vegas, the Clark County coroner's office said.

Minner shot a 16-year-old boy in the hand early Wednesday morning in an apartment near Las Vegas Boulevard South and Windmill Lane, then fled. When officers responded to the apartment, Minner pointed a gun at them and Buchanan shot him, police said.
