Fishing report: Weather a factor, but there’s action between fronts

NEVADA DEPARTMENT OF WILDLIFE

Fishing pressure dropped off from the previous week because of weather fronts that came through the area. Anglers fishing between fronts in coves near Overton Beach were successful landing largemouth bass that weighed 2-3 pounds.

Black plastic worms and crankbaits were landing the fish.

Boaters fishing with anchovies at St. Margaret Cove, Stewarts Point and the Meadows landed stripers that ranged from 18-20 inches.

Anglers reported good top-water action for striped bass as the fish are feeding on threadfin shad. Boaters fishing in the vicinity of Boulder and Black Islands landed stripers that averaged 18 inches.

Striped bass fishing improved from the previous week in the Willow Beach area. Anglers reported good success for striped bass.

An angler using an AC plug landed three stripers that averaged 16 pounds. Another angler using anchovies caught a couple of stripers that weighed 25 and 22 pounds.

Temperatures continue to reach 100 during the days while the nights were dropping into the low 60s.
