Savvy wine buys: Albet I Noya Lignum ‘99
Wednesday, April 30, 2003 | 8:32 a.m.
There was a time when organic wines, which contain no sulfites and which are produced from grapes not sprayed with chemicals or pesticides, were not taken seriously, but that time has passed. Now even European Union wine countries such as Spain are getting into the act, as evidenced by this beautiful red from one of that country's most prestigious regions.
This wine is a blend of Cabernet (22 percent), Carignan (39 percent) and Garnacha (39 percent), a rich, lush wine with deep flavor. Drink now, or let it deepen for two or three years, at which time it should reach a peak.
Available at Wild Oats Markets, $12.99.
