Outfielder Chris Latham, a Basic High School graduate, was signed Tuesday by the Yomiuri Giants from the New York Yankees.
Latham, 29, was designated for assignment by the Yankees on April 21 after going 2-for-2 with three runs scored in his first season with New York. He was guaranteed $400,000 by the Yankees, and Kyodo News said he agreed to a $708,000, one-year contract with the Giants.
He is scheduled to arrive in Japan about May 20.
