Retailer closing two LV stores

Tuesday, April 29, 2003 | 11:22 a.m.

A week after announcing the closure of its Las Vegas Spiegel outlet store, The Spiegel Group added two Las Vegas Eddie Bauer stores to its list of closures as part of its reorganization plan.

The two Eddie Bauer stores are among a list of 60 under-performing Eddie Bauer stores targeted by the Downers Grove, Ill.-based company. The stores are at Desert Passage at Aladdin on the Strip, and the Galleria at Sunset mall in Henderson. The Eddie Bauer outlet at the Fashion Outlets of Las Vegas in Primm, about 40 miles south of Las Vegas, is not on the list to close.

The apparel and home furnishings retailer filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy last month. The stores will remain open pending approval of the plan by a bankruptcy court and will then be closed on a store-by-store basis.

The Las Vegas Spiegel store at the Belz Factory Outlet World, 7400 Las Vegas Blvd. South, also is scheduled to close under the company's plan to shutter all of its Spiegel outlet and clearance stores as part of its reorganization plan.
