Letter: Bush becomes the new bully of the world
Tuesday, April 29, 2003 | 9 a.m.
I remember World War II and how proud I was to be an American. They were simpler times, we all knew who the enemy was.
Now the country has joined the ranks of Germany and Japan. We have become an aggressor nation. I feel shame and revulsion for what our nation has become under Bush's leadership. I now realize that my first assessment of Bush was right on. On national television he told America that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction and would not hesitate to use them on our troops. When the press asked him for proof, he ignored them and just kept making the same accusations.
Our nation is a superpower while Iraq is a tiny Third World nation. I agree that Saddam needed to be removed, but I believe that a few Green Berets could have accomplished that without the destruction of an entire country and without the massive expenditures of our money. I hope the American people will do some soul searching and send this Texas Bully back to Crawford.
