CARSON CITY -- Federal law prohibits taxing Internet sales, but if the ban is lifted, Senate Majority Leader Bill Raggio, R-Reno, said he wants the state to be ready.
He introduced Senate Bill 314 Friday to have the state Taxation Department to study how much tax the state could generate from Internet sales.
Raggio said a private study suggested Nevada lost $151 million in sales tax revenue in 2001 to Internet sales and could lose as much as $444 million in 2006.
