Vegas home sales jump to record for March
Wednesday, April 23, 2003 | 9:48 a.m.
Despite the war in Iraq that began in March, new home sales soared in the Las Vegas Valley, with 1,990 recorded new home sales. That is a record for March, said Dennis Smith, president of Home Builders Research.
Resales also were strong, with 3,521 in March, Smith said.
"Even though some of the housing statistics did in fact soften recently, we still have a very active housing market," Smith wrote in his monthly housing newsletter. "It is strong enough that we believe if the economic picture slowly improves, as many economists state, 2003 will still bring a record number of recorded new home sales and resales (in Las Vegas)."
