Leo A. Alvarez

Leo A. Alvarez, 77, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Aug. 11, 1925, in Cuba. A resident for 30 years, he was a dealer.

He is survived by one son, Leo A. Alvarez Jr., and one daughter, Mary Alvarez, both of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.

Visitation is scheduled 4-9 p.m. Thursday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday in St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 130 N. Pecos Road, Henderson. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.

Jan Bailey

Jan Bailey, 62, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Dec. 23, 1940, in Moorhead, Minn. A resident for 26 years, she was a retired medical supervisor.

She is survived by her husband, Jack; three sons, Doug Bailey, Steve Bailey and Justin Bailey; four daughters, Sandra Stephens of Henderson, Cheri Dunkle of Everettville, Wash., and Dawn Rybnikar and Marina Bailey, both of Las Vegas; two brothers, Bob Nyland of Henderson and Wallace Nyland of Everett, Wash.; 13 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.

Florence I. Koons Bellamy Britt

Florence I. Koons Bellamy Britt, 92, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 1, 1911, in Stockton, Kan. A resident for seven years, she was an accounting technician for 20 years for the state of Colorado and a retired worthy matron of the Eastern Star, Pahrump chapter.

She is survived by two sons, Duane Bellamy of Watsonville, Calif., and Darrell Bellamy of Las Vegas; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service date is pending. Nevada Funeral Service-Nevada Cremation or Burial Society, 2983 Fremont St., is handling arrangements.

Ralph J. 'Buzzy' Bucinskas Jr.

Ralph J. "Buzzy" Bucinskas Jr., 59, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 27, 1943, in Boston. A resident for 27 years, he was a retired constable and a Vietnam War Army veteran.

He is survived by three daughters, Candee Makar of Wisconsin Dell, Wis., and Cindy Mihova and Julie Chmiel, both of Las Vegas.

A memorial service will be 5 p.m. Friday in Affordable Cremation and Burial Service, 2457 N. Decatur Blvd.

Shirley Caffin

Shirley Caffin, 74, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. A homemaker, she was born June 8, 1928, in Pennsylvania.

No local services are scheduled. Burial will be in Florida. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Kenneth John Carpenter

Kenneth John Carpenter, 75, of Las Vegas died Friday in Las Vegas. He was born Feb. 20, 1928, in Bossier City, La. A resident for 21 years, he owned Lone Star Manufacturing and was a World War II Marine Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Norma Kay; five sons, Danny R. Carpenter of Dallas, Robert Marler of Baton Rouge, La., Michael Marler of Hot Springs, Ark., James Marler of Las Vegas and David Marler of Opelousas, La.; three daughters, Shirley Cardella of Dallas and Kitty Britain and Marion Bendixen, both of Orlando; 24 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

No local services are scheduled. Services and burial will be in Canton, Texas. Hites Funeral Services, 438 W. Sunset Road, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Willma Delle Douglas

Willma Delle Douglas, 70, of Las Vegas died Friday in a local hospital. She was born March 13, 1933, in Oklahoma. A resident for 57 years, she was a secretary for the Clark County Fire Department.

She is survived by two daughters, Dawn C. Morrow and Alice Diane Fusco; one brother, Tommy Joe Williams; and one grandchild.

Mary L. Easley

Mary L. Easley, 76, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local care center. She was born Dec. 8, 1926, in Bushnell, Ill. A resident for 16 years, she was a retired supervisor of a manufacturing company and a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Illinois.

She is survived by her husband, Otis E.; one daughter, Rose E. Heffren of Bryant, Ill.; one son, Ronald E. Easley of Las Vegas; two sisters, Beatrice Fewkes of Table Grove, Ill., and Marjorie Thompson of Lewistown, Ill.; six grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will continue until 7 p.m. today in Palm Mortuary, 7600 S. Eastern Ave.

Fenton M. Fadeley III

Fenton M. Fadeley III, 77, of Las Vegas died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born June 30, 1925, in Bethesda, Md. A resident for 12 years, he was a retired owner of a petroleum company and a World War II Air Force veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Melvia; three sons, Thomas Monard of Prince Frederick, Md., Charles Fadeley of Charlottesville, Va., and Frederick Breininger of Henderson; five daughters, Deborah Lawrence of Sarasota, Fla., Peggy Norris of Bradenton, Fla., Cherry McDowell and Suzanne Bremerman, both of Las Vegas, and Candy LaChance of Houghesville, Pa.; one brother, Richard Fadeley of Sherwood Forest, Md.; 24 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Joseph R. Galea, 77, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 22, 1926, in New York City. A resident for 14 years, he was a dealer and a World War II Army veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille; two daughters, Luann McKechnie and Tracey Elliott, one son, John McKechnie, and two brothers, Archie Galea and Frank Galea, all of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.

Melvin Dwayne Harlin

Melvin Dwayne Harlin, 78, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. He was born Dec. 25, 1924, in Texas. A resident for 41 years, he was an electronics technician in communications and an Army Air Corps veteran.

He is survived by four sons, Mitchell Harlin, David Harlin, Martin Harlin and Ben Lucero; two daughters, Laura Carpenter and Barbara DiPaulo; four brothers; two sisters; eight grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Edith Madeline Hawley, 89, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Las Vegas. She was born Sept. 29, 1913, in Montana. A resident for four years, she was an accountant in the advertising industry.

She is survived by one son, Herbert "Buddy" Hawley; one daughter, Sandra Yeaman; one sister, Dorothy Gooden; and 11 grandchildren.

Gladys May Henrickson

Gladys May Henrickson, 74, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospice. She was born Sept. 2, 1928, in Massachusetts. A resident for 12 years, she was a retired medical secretary and a member of the Rosicruscian Order.

She is survived by two daughters, Christine of Florida and Anne of Nevada; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Rowell Stratton Houghton

Rowell Stratton Houghton, 89, of Henderson died Sunday in a local hospital. He was born Oct. 19, 1913, in LaGrande, Ore. A resident for four years, he was a retired personnel officer for the Air Force, a World War II veteran, a member of Eastgate Masonic Lodge, Portland Scottish Rite, Al Kader Temple, Friendship Chapter 115 Order of the Eastern Star Sojourners, Heros of 76, Lloyd Center Lion Club in Portland, Ore., and National World War II Glider Pilot Association.

He is survived by his wife, Mercedes; one daughter, Jodie Tibbetts of Portland; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be noon Saturday in the Community Church of Henderson, 360 E. Horizon Drive, Henderson. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Monroe Lea, 66, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 15, 1937, in Carthage, Ark. A resident for 51 years, he was a laborer.

He is survived by four daughters, Lisa Jacobs of Colorado and Mitzi Lea, Kimberly Campbell and Tamika Taylor, all of Las Vegas; four sons, Anthony Davis, Alton, Uricos Campbell and Timothy Lea, all of Las Vegas; four stepsons, Marvin Campbell and Darion Campbell, both of Las Vegas, and Anthony Campbell and Melvin Campbell, both of California; his mother, Doris Broadnax; two sisters, Ruby Smith of Arkansas and Francis Lea of Las Vegas; seven brothers, Wallace Broadnax of Las Vegas and Willie Smith, Jessie Lea, James Lea, Fredy Lea, Robert Lea and Harold Lea, all of Arkansas; and 26 grandchildren.

Vern Louis 'Lin' Linford

Vern Louis "Lin" Linford, 82, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. A load master, he was born Feb. 23, 1921, in Brigham City, Utah.

He is survived by two daughters, Penny Linford of Ripon, Calif., and Linda Van Unen of Oakdale, Calif.; one brother, Ray Linford of Orem, Utah; two sisters, June Berglund Hunter of Ogden, Utah, and Donna Mae Baadagaard of Moses Lake, Wash.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Rosemary McConville, 81, of Henderson died Monday in a local care center. She was born Feb. 23, 1922, in New York City. A resident for 13 years, she was a retired executive secretary for the New York-New Jersey Port Authority for more than 37 years.

She is survived by one brother, Peter J. McConville of San Diego.

She is survived by two sons, Joseph Cirincione and Edward Cirincione; one daughter, Carol Walkewicz; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Cindy Reed, 65, of Las Vegas died Monday in a local hospital. She was born Jan. 31, 1938, in Owensboro, Ky. A resident for 35 years, she was a retired beauty shop owner, a member of American Legion Auxiliary Post 8 and a retired member of the Screen Actors Guild.

She is survived by her husband, George; one sister, Liz Young of Mountain Home, Ark.; and one grandchild.

Loretta B. Rosenbalm, 75, of Las Vegas died Saturday in a local hospital. She was born Aug. 22, 1927, in Oakland, Calif. A resident for three years, she was a retired telephone company secretary.

She is survived by one son, Don Rosenbalm of Las Vegas; and one brother, James C. Auld of Fernley.

Gene Sasso

Gene Sasso, 70, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 8, 1932, in Clinton, Ind. A resident for 17 years, he was a retired operations manager for a government contractor and a Vietnam War Marine Corps veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara F.; one son, Louis G. Sasso Jr. of Broomfield, Colo.; two daughters, Christina M. Rogers of Albuquerque and Cheryl A. Orr of Bountiful, Utah; one brother, John Sasso; and one sister, Terese Sasso.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth; two daughters, Susan Yurchak of Las Vegas and Betsy Witynski of Brookfield, Wis.; one son, Donald Schmitz of Chicago; one brother, Ray Schmitz of Crown Point, Ind.; and two grandchildren.

Eugene F. Spry, 80, of Las Vegas died Sunday in Henderson. He was born April 9, 1923, in Charles City, Iowa. A resident for 29 years, he was in broadcasting and was a World War II veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Deborah Horky and Sharon Michaelsen, both of Henderson; one sister, Gwen Spry of Albuquerque; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Harold W. Vote, 91, of Boulder City died Monday in a local hospital. He was born July 21, 1911, in Santa Fe, N.M. A resident for 30 years, he was a retired operations manager for an electrical manufacturing company and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by one niece, Donna Albertsen of Newport Beach, Calif.; and one nephew, Ronald Albertsen of Fountain Valley, Calif.

Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Thursday in Boulder City Cemetery, 501 Adams Blvd. Palm Mortuary, 800 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, is handling arrangements.

Joseph Wage

Joseph Wage, 53, of Las Vegas died Saturday in Las Vegas. He was born Sept. 15, 1949, in Wisconsin. A resident for three years, he was an optician at Walmart, a teacher of optometry at Community College of Southern Nevada.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy; four sons, Nicholas Wage and Austin Wage, both of Las Vegas, and Joseph Wage Jr. and Kelly Wage, both of Wisconsin; one daughter, Ashley Wage of Las Vegas; his mother, Mary Wage, two brothers, Max Wage and Scott Wage, and one sister, Lora Colburn, all of Wisconsin.

A memorial service will be noon Friday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. A private burial will follow.
