Chiropractors join support for troops
Las Vegas chiropractors are joining their colleagues around the world for special community events to support American troops stationed overseas.
Throughout April and May chiropractors will donate hundreds of hours in order to raise money for the United Service Organizations, Dr. Joshua Purcell of North Las Vegas said.
At Active Life Family Chiropractic, Purcell said that on May 2 free health screenings, exams and adjustments will be offered from 9:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. in exchange for donations to Operation USO Care Package.
The public is invited to attend at the center, 3315 W. Craig Road, Suite 105.
For every $25 donation collected by Active Life, the USO will send a personalized postcard message and a care package containing items such as global calling cards, disposable cameras, toiletries and music CDs to each man or woman in the services.
Henderson schedules Arbor Day festivities
The Henderson Parks and Recreation Department will host its annual Arbor Day celebration at 10 a.m. Friday at Youth Center Park, 105 W. Basic Road.
The free event will include the presentation of the Arbor Day proclamation, poster contest winners, a color guard demonstration by Basic High School JROTC band, and an Arbor Day play performed by Basic High School's Drama Club, as well as dedicating and planting the 50th anniversary commemorative tree.

of Excellence, 100 N. Green Valley Parkway, Suite No. 330, will offer a class to procrastinating teens from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday. Nathaniel Quintana, former schoolteacher, will teach teens how to focus on priorities, goal setting and follow-through.Call 616-4900.
Dr. Ramanujam Komanuri,
chief of staff for the Veterans Administration's Southern Nevada Healthcare System, will be speak at the Navy League meeting beginning with no-host cocktails at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Fiesta Henderson, 777 Lake Mead Blvd. Call Norma Schaefer at 360-4028.
Las Vegas Councilman Michael Mack
invites residents to a neighborhood meeting in Ward 6 at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Parson Elementary School, 4100 Thom Blvd. Call 229-6501.
