MGM MIRAGE bringing sex appeal to pirate battles
Tuesday, April 22, 2003 | 11:19 a.m.
MGM MIRAGE today revealed details about a new show at its Treasure Island resort on the Las Vegas Strip that will replace the famed battle between a pirate ship and British frigate.
The "Sirens of TI" show will involve female performers who will battle it out with a band of pirates "in a sensual modern interpretation of the Battle of Buccaneer Bay."
The company calls the show the "centerpiece of a multi-year evolution" that has transformed the property from Disneyland-like roots to a more upscale, adult environment.
"We've seen a return of Las Vegas to its roots as an adult destination," Treasure Island President Scott Sibella said. "As the city has evolved, so too has Treasure Island."
