Las Vegas Wash project wins environmental award

Three Nevada environmental projects, including Clark County's Las Vegas Wash Wetlands Park, were scheduled to receive awards as part of Earth Day celebrations today in San Francisco.
"These groups and individuals have applied creativity, teamwork and leadership in addressing many of Nevada's most pressing and complex environmental problems," said Wayne Nastri of the Environmental Protection Agency.
Clark County Parks and Community Services is being honored for its efforts to protect and preserve a 2,900-acre, seven-mile strip of wetlands that is being restored in the Las Vegas Wash.
