CARSON CITY -- A bill that would require school districts to allow home-schooled children to participate in sports was sent to the Assembly Ways and Means Committee Monday with assurance that it will be heard.
Supporters feared that if Assembly Bill 311 were sent to the Ways and Means Committee, referred to as both the cul-de-sac and black hole since there is no money to be found to fund bills requiring extra cash, it would die for lack of action.
The Clark County School District estimated the bill would cost the district $30,000 over the next two fiscal years. Washoe County estimated the cost at $1.3 million.
