Latasha Jozette Anderson
Latasha Jozette Anderson, 18, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Feb. 5, 1985, in Berkeley, Calif. A resident for six years, she was a student.
She is survived by her mother, Judy Anderson, and her stepfather, Danny L. Thomas, both of Las Vegas; her father, Edward Lee Anderson of Oakland, Calif.; four brothers, Dennis R. Adair Jr. and Rasheed A. Simms, both of Oakland, Calif., and William H. Blackwell and Marcus J. Blackwell, both of Las Vegas; one sister, Roshanda L.M. Blackwell of San Diego.
Visitation is scheduled 2-8 p.m. Monday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday in Tabernacle of Praise Church of God in Christ, 7550 W. Constantinople Ave. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road.
Joseph Arathoon
Joseph Arathoon, 75, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. A retired production foreman, he was born May 27, 1927, in Indonesia.
He is survived by his wife, Marga; one daughter, Vera Leake of Henderson; one son, Eric Arathoon of Yucca Valley, Calif.; and two brothers, Frits Meyers and Eric Arathoon, both of Holland.
Valley Memorial Crematory, 4855 W. Desert Inn Road, is handling private arrangements.
Norma Burke
Norma Burke, 81, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Jan. 28, 1922, in Logandale. A lifelong Nevada resident, she was a homemaker.
She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Alter of Baldwin Park, Calif., and Charlene Anderson of Las Vegas; one son, Danny Burke, and two sisters, Mary Lou Clemmons and Pauline Konold, all of Las Vegas; three brothers, Calvin Leavitt of Blue Diamond, Harvey Leavitt of Las Vegas and Clayton Leavitt of Henderson; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. today in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to a 10 a.m. service Saturday in the Eighth Street and Franklin Avenue LDS chapel. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, 7251 W. Lone Mountain Road.
Evelyn Lenett Daniels
Evelyn Lenett Daniels, 73, of Las Vegas died Monday in Newport Beach, Calif. She was born March 5, 1930, in Fort Worth, Texas. A resident for nearly 40 years, she was a retired hotel front-desk cashier who worked at the old MGM Grand and then Bally's for 25 years.
She is survived by one daughter, Karen Linden of Newport Beach, Calif.; one son, Brad Daniels of Mission Viejo, Calif.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
No local services are scheduled. Services and burial will be in California. Pacific View Mortuary Chapel, Corona del Mar, Calif., is handling arrangements.
The family suggests donations to the American Lung Association, 1570 E. 17th St., Suite F, Santa Ana, CA 92705.
Hazel M. Gordanier
Hazel M. Gordanier, 93, of Las Vegas died Tuesday in Las Vegas. She was born Oct. 9, 1909, in Quanah, Texas. A resident for 52 years, she was a homemaker, past president and longtime volunteer for Sunrise Hospital Auxiliary and a former member of Women's Democratic Club.
She is survived by two daughters, Loucille Dignum of Las Vegas and Georgeann Guglielmo of Murrieta Springs, Calif.; one sister, Joala Bell of Victorville, Calif.; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 1-4 p.m. Saturday in Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Services will be 11 a.m. Monday in St. Andrew Lutheran Church, 8901 Del Webb Blvd. Graveside services will follow at 2 p.m. Monday in Paradise Memorial Gardens, 6200 S. Eastern Ave.
Norma Linda Hinojosa
Norma Linda Hinojosa, 51, of Las Vegas died Monday in Las Vegas. She was born March 19, 1952, in San Antonio. A resident for 20 years, she was a dealer.
She is survived by her parents, Efrain and Minnie Diaz Hinojosa; and one brother, Efrain Hinojosa Jr.
Mass will be celebrated in San Antonio. Sunrise Cremation & Burial Society, 745 W. Sunset Road, No. 5, Henderson, is handling arrangements.
Joseph Lerz III
Joseph Lerz III, 54, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born Jan. 7, 1949, in Waterbury, Conn. A resident for 40 years, he was a consultant in the tour and travel industry.
He is survived by his father, Joseph Lerz Jr., two brothers, Harold Lerz and Michael Lerz, and one sister, Christine Lerz, all of Las Vegas.
A memorial service will be 4 p.m. Saturday in Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd. A private burial will follow.
Taye Haile Mariam
Taye Haile Mariam, 52, of Las Vegas died April 11 in a local hospital. A resident for 12 years, he was born June 14, 1950, in Ethiopia.
He is survived by one son, Gideon Taye Mariam; one daughter, Leverne Mariam of Washington state; two brothers, Mesfin Mariam and Fassil Mariam, both of California; and two sisters, Roman Work of Las Vegas and Muleta H. Mariam of Dallas.
Services were scheduled at 10 a.m. today at Garden Memorial Funeral Home, 3600 W. Vegas Drive, followed by burial in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Lillian Mary McCormick
Lillian Mary McCormick, 85, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. She was born May 10, 1917, in Brooklyn, N.Y. A resident for 24 years, she was a retired telephone supervisor.
She is survived by five daughters, Patricia Lombardi of Florida, Joan DeGiammatteo, Dorothy LoBiondo and Barbara Bouder, all of Las Vegas, and Kathleen Grassa of New York; two sons, Alfred McCormick and John McCormick, both of New York; 26 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Brooklyn. Davis Funeral Home, 2127 W. Charleston Blvd., handled arrangements.
Edward Luther Reese
Edward Luther Reese, 88, of Boulder City died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born June 20, 1914, in Electric, Mont. A resident of Southern Nevada for 46 years, he was a retired Boulder City building official, a World War II Navy veteran and past president of the ICBO.
He is survived by his wife, Helen; one daughter, Vicki McDonald of Henderson; two sons, Larry Reese of Boulder City and John Reese of Riverton, Utah; one sister, Helen White of Elko; one brother, Robert Reese of Bremerton, Wash.; nine grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled 7-9 p.m. Sunday in Boulder City Family Mortuary, 833 Nevada Way, Suite 1. Additional visitation is scheduled one hour prior to an 11:30 a.m. service Monday in the Fifth Street LDS chapel. Burial will follow in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City.
Richard H. Rolfstad
Richard H. Rolfstad, 54, of Henderson died Tuesday in Las Vegas. He was born Nov. 2, 1948, in Williston, N.D. A resident for three years, he was in the banking and finance industry and founded the John Wayne Club of Las Vegas.
He is survived by his companion, Serena Jensen; one son, Jeremy Rolfstad of Henderson; and one daughter, Tiffany Rolfstad of Minot, N.D.
Visitation is scheduled 3-7 p.m. today in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home, 6200 S. Eastern Ave. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Davis Paradise Valley Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Paradise Memorial Gardens.
Jack Mortimer Scharas Sr.
Jack Mortimer Scharas Sr., 73, of Las Vegas died Feb. 3 in Las Vegas. He was born Jan. 16, 1930, in Pittsburgh. A resident for 36 years, he was a taxicab driver and an Air Force veteran.
He is survived by one son, Jack Scharas Jr. of Las Vegas; and one grandchild.
Visitation is private. Burial will be in Southern Nevada Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Boulder City. Bunkers Mortuary, 925 Las Vegas Blvd. North, is handling arrangements.
Dennis 'Mickey' Sheehan
Dennis "Mickey" Sheehan, 49, of Las Vegas died Wednesday in a local hospital. He was born April 5, 1954, in Chicago. A resident for 15 years, he was disabled.
He is survived by his mother, Clara Sheehan of Chicago; three sisters, Colleen Sheehan and Kelly Sheehan, both of Chicago and Sheila Roxak of Las Vegas; and one brother, Mark Sheehan of Chicago.
Palm Mortuary, 1325 N. Main St., is handling private arrangements.
Otto H.R. Tauber
Otto H.R. Tauber, 80, of Las Vegas died Thursday in Las Vegas. He was born Oct. 20, 1922, in Selby, S.D. A resident for three years, he was a meat cutter at the Nevada Test Site and a Coast Guard veteran.
He was preceded in death by one son, Alan, in 1990.
He is survived by his wife, Laura Ann; three daughters, Joan Fincher, Ann Levos and Jeanne Gugino, all of Nevada; one son, Thomas; and 15 grandchildren.
Services will be in Iowa. Sunrise Cremation & Burial Society, 745 W. Sunset Road, No. 5, Henderson.
