Letter: Not voting is not an option
Friday, April 18, 2003 | 4:40 a.m.
For many years I worked on election boards in California and Nevada. It always bothered me that the percentage of voters was much smaller than I thought they should ever be. To think that one's vote is not important is unthinkable!
We are "The People." We have an obligation and an inalienable right to vote on issues and people that could change our lives, and all of our opinions are important. If you know people who do not vote, you should urge that they do so to express their given right to agree or disagree. It is a privilege not every country allows or encourages. America is different. We have an obligation to vote to prevent unequal or biased representation in every form of our government.
This country belongs to all of us and we owe it to all of our citizens that we are governed by unbiased and fair representation.
So if you are an American, it is your duty to inform yourself on what is going on in our government and react with intelligent voting.
