Highland games
The Las Vegas Highland Games and Celtic Gathering will be from 9 a.m. to midnight through Saturday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at Freedom Park, North Pecos Road and East Washington Avenue. Events and entertainment include Highland bands, pipers and dancing, a dog show, Celtic-themed merchandise and food. Admission is $10; $8 for senior citizens; $5 for students; under 12 free. 433-2637.
Poet's corner
Las Vegas Cultural Affairs Division presents "Poet's Corner," a forum for established and open-mike participants at 7:30 p.m. today at the West Las Vegas Arts Center, 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd. Admission is free. 229-4800.
Wildflower walk
Spring Mountain State Park will sponsor a wildflower walk beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday at the park tour gate. Walking is easy to moderate. Program is free. Admission to park is $5 per vehicle. 875-4141.
Book release
The 2003 Las Vegas Perspective Book Event will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Cashman Center Theatre, 850 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Admission plus one book is $40.
