UNLV junior pitcher Jake Vose and Utah sophomore outfielder Matt Ciaramella were named Monday as the Mountain West Conference pitcher and player of the week, respectively.
Vose, who pitched for Cimarron-Memorial High, gave the Rebels a 13-1 lead and struck out seven before leaving in the seventh inning in game three vs. Utah, which UNLV went on to win 13-5. Vose is 5-3 this year and ranks second in the MWC with 56 strikeouts.
Meanwhile, UNLV (28-11, 12-3 MWC) maintained its No. 21 ranking by Baseball America despite going 2-2 last week. The Rebels slipped from No. 26 to No. 32 in the latest Sports Weekly/ESPN Top 25 College Baseball coaches poll.
