The 43th annual World Series of Poker begins Tuesday at Binion's Horseshoe in downtown Las Vegas.
This year's tournament will feature 37 separate events, the same number as last year. It will conclude May 23 with a championship that is expected to be $2 million or more. The buy-in for that event is $10,000.
About 630 people participated in last year's championship game and a total of $6.31 million in prize money was awarded. In total, about 7,600 people participated in the tournament for a prize pool of $19.6 million.
Organizers expect at least 8,000 tournament participants this year.
