UNLV sweeps DH from UC Riverside
Friday, April 11, 2003 | 10:05 a.m.
UNLV's Becky McDonald and Jacqueline Kerrigan both tossed shutouts to lead the Rebels to a doubleheader sweep against UC Riverside on Thursday at UCR Field.
The Rebels (18-25, 2-4 MWC) took the opener 3-0 behind a masterful two-hit performance from McDonald. In what was the best game of the freshman's brief career, she carried a no-hitter into the fifth inning before giving up a single.
The momentum carried into the second game of the non-conference doubleheader, a 4-0 victory for the Rebels. Kerrigan scattered six hits.
The Rebels continue their road trip through Southern California by stepping back into conference play. They face San Diego State in a twinbill Saturday at noon.
