A Metro Police patrol officer was placed on routine administrative leave after shots were fired at a suspect early Wednesday morning near Atlantic Avenue and Oakey Boulevard.
The officer, responding to a call of a fight with gunfire, found a Ford Explorer with three men inside. The men fled on foot with the officer in pursuit, Metro Homicide Lt. Tom Monahan said.
As the men scrambled to climb a block wall, one suspect turned and aimed what the officer believed was a handgun at him, Monahan said.
The officer fired one shot, but missed the man. It was later discovered that the suspect did not fire a weapon, Monahan said.
The three men were later found inside a nearby apartment. A handgun was also recovered, Monahan said.
Officers arrested Satra Guillory, 20, on outstanding warrants and took him to the Clark County Detention Center. A teenager, whose name was withheld because of his age, was taken to the county Juvenile Detention Center, charged with discharging a weapon from a vehicle and assault with a deadly weapon.
The third suspect was interviewed and released, Monahan said.
The name of the officer is being withheld for 48 hours, per department policy.
