Catching up with … JORDAN AUTEN
Thursday, April 10, 2003 | 10:11 a.m.
High school: Bonanza ('00)
Where she is now: San Francisco
Class: Junior
Sport: Golf
Currently: Auten came on late in the 2001-02 season and she appears poised to do the same as the 2002-03 season winds down. After not finishing higher than 34th this season, Auten, a Las Vegas native, turned in a sterling performance Monday and Tuesday to win the BYU Dixie Classic in St. George, Utah. Auten went 73-72-73 for a three-round total of 218 to win the tournament by three strokes. The win was USF's first individual medal since 2001, and the Dons finished second to UNLV overall by three strokes.
Looking back: A four-year letterwinner for the Bengals, Auten enjoyed a fine prep career at Bonanza. She was named the Southern Nevada Junior Golf Association's Player of the Year after her junior season, and Auten turned in second-place finishes at the Las Vegas City Juniors and Albertson's Junior Classic in high school. Auten placed fifth in the 4A State Championships in 2000.
