Rebels win 3 in a row against New Mexico

The 24th ranked UNLV baseball team earned a series sweep over New Mexico with a 7-6 victory Sunday at Earl E. Wilson Stadium. The Rebels, 26-9 overall, hold the top spot in the Mountain West Conference at 10-2. With the loss, the Lobos fall to 23-13, 7-5 in league play
Ben Scheinbaum (3-0) picked up the win in relief. He kept the Lobos scoreless in 1 2/3 innings of work with one hit. Ryan Bruan got his third save of the season. He pitched 1 2/3 innings, yielding two hits and striking out two.
New Mexico starter Darren Coltrinari (2-3) earned the loss. He went six innings, giving up seven runs on eight hits.
UNLV had eight hits from eight players. Patrick Dobson hit his eighth home run of the season and drove in two runs. Eddie Gill doubled and Eric Nielsen rounded the bags for a triple.
UNLV travels to UC-Riverside for a Tuesday game at 6 p.m., then go to Salt Lake City for a weekend series with the University of Utah.
