Letter: Neighbors don’t see Iraq as threat
Monday, April 7, 2003 | 9 a.m.
The Sun's March 25 editorial denigrating the war protesters is as misguided as it is possible to get. I stand strong against this war that is the manufactured creation of a single individual. To in any way attach this need to kill people, as a result of 9-11-01, is sheer stupidity.
How is it that the neighbors of Iraq who are so much more in danger of any weapons of mass destruction than we are, are so quiet? Were they bribed by us? We hear nothing from Iran, Syria, Egypt, Jordan, Israel, the Palestinians, etc.
If Iraq was such an imminent threat to world and local peace, and such a threat to use weapons of mass destruction, why wouldn't these nearby people join us in the killing sands, in an effort to protect themselves?
You and everyone else on this planet must be able to separate their and my support for the poor individuals who are in Iraq fighting this unnecessary war! Having served in the USMC during the Korean war, I assure you that my support of the troops is undying. My protest of Bush and his war is also undying.
We can save a number of people by simply bringing them home. And by the way, the growing body bag count far outnumbers the numbers of people who have greeted us with open arms, or the weapons of mass destruction that have been found!
