Letter: Smoking gun not found in Iraq
Friday, April 4, 2003 | 9:08 a.m.
One thing is certain. The numerous men, women and children of Iraq and the brave young men and women of the U.S. military who are now dead or severely injured would all be alive and well today if President Bush had not precipitated the horrible conflict in which we are now embroiled.
Incidentally, the front page of Wednesday's Las Vegas Sun informs us that the U.S. military team charged with hunting for Iraqi weapons of mass destruction has still not found the smoking gun it has been seeking.
This brings forth a reasonable question: On what honorable or understandable basis have we gone into another country with one of the largest arrays of weapons, fighter planes, tanks, missiles, etc., ever seen and then start "shock and awe" bombing all over the country?
I am real sorry about all this because it doesn't appear like the country I have always known and loved.
