Las Vegas Area Fishing Report: Largemouth bass are hot catches in Lake Mead

Creel census clerks reported that boaters fishing Lake Mead near Overton Beach in the Muddy and Virgin River areas were successful landing a few largemouth bass that ranged from 2-3 pounds.

Anglers fishing Echo Bay, north of the boat ramp, landed stripers that measured 14-15 inches and a few largemouth bass that measured 17-18 inches. Anchovies were landing the stripers and top-water lures landed the largemouth bass.

Shore anglers fishing with anchovies near the marina breakwater landed stripers that averaged 15 inches.

An angler using anchovies and marshmallows caught a striper that weighed 22 1/2 pounds. Anglers using an assortment of baits landed a few catfish that ranged from 3-6 pounds.

Willow Beach anglers reported that fishing success slowed from the previous week. A few anglers using anchovies were successful landing stripers that ranged from 6-10 pounds.

Anglers fishing Comins Lake with PowerBait are landing rainbow trout that range from 1-2 pounds.

Illipah Reservoir anglers using PowerBait continue to have success for rainbow trout that ranged from 12-14 inches.

Another angler using PowerBait landed two fish that measured 16 inches.

Anglers using PowerBait and night crawlers as bait were not having much success.
